Travel Scholarships
A number of travel scholarships were available for abstract submitters to nominate themselves for, to contribute towards travel and accommodation expenses related to attending the Meeting. These included: - Indigenous Travel Scholarship for those who identify as an Indigenous or First Nations person and, where applicable, have sufficient cultural connection to represent the specific Indigenous group(s) they aim to represent.
- Student Travel Scholarship for current students (proof of student status will be required at the time of submission for the scholarship).
- Child Care Travel Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to assist with travel expenses related to bringing the applicant’s chosen carer to Cairns with them, or to cover child care costs in Cairns, over the duration of the Meeting. To be successful for this scholarship, the applicant must have childcare needs for a child aged 10 or under. Note only one grant is available per family.
- Lower-Middle Income Country Travel Scholarship for researchers from one of the countries listed in this document to present their research at the Meeting.
- Asia-Pacific Region Travel Scholarship for researchers from one of the countries listed in this document to present their research at the Meeting.
To be considered for any of the above scholarships, applicants were required to:
- Be a presenter of an oral or poster presentation that has been submitted and accepted into the VoM 2024 Meeting program. Details for submitting an abstract for the Meeting can be found here.
- Briefly explain (150 words or less) how attendance at the Meeting will benefit their career goals.
- Submit a one-page CV to support their application.
Note:
- The value of each scholarship was advised to successful applicants.
- Applicants are required to be a member of ISVM – registration is free and you can register via this link.
- Funding was awarded on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the criteria set out above.
- Applicants were able to nominate themselves for one scholarship only.
- Awards were highly competitive.
- Successfull applicants are required to attend the Meeting as a fulltime registered delegate.
Delegates could nominate themselves for one of the above scholarships during the abstract submission process. Successful applicants were advised as part of the call for abstracts notification process on Monday 15 April 2024. Applications are no longer being considered.
A certificate will be presented to successful applicants at the Meeting, with funds for the scholarship transferred onsite at the Meeting in Cairns.
